Revised Mazda 3
The Geneva show this year is likely to have slightly less buzz compared with previous years as, with many manufacturers falling short of their annual revenue figures in 2008, outgoings such as motor show visits just don’t come top of the priority list.
Mazda however, will be participating as usual, probably due to the fact that it is launching two new and revised models within the Mazda3 range, the MPS and the i-stop.
Starting with the MPS, Mazda has fitted a huge 2.3 litre turbo charged petrol engine, which will produce around 250bhp.
While the engine is likely to be a lot more economical than before, due to it being with the 5 emissions legislation, it is still likely to be considered a petrol guzzler, due to its size and power.
The MPS has been designed around the sports car and driving experience enthusiast rather the eco friendly driver though, so Mazda should have everything covered.
At the other end of the scale, the i-stop uses a flat two litre petrol engine which, thanks to some minor modifications, will produce around 10% extra fuel economy and a lot less CO2 emmissions.

Loving every mile in a Mazda - San Francisco Chronicle
06.02.09
We purchased our 2008 Mazda-3 S Grand Touring 5-door hatchback after our Subaru Outback Sport was totaled when it got hit from behind. We were certain that we would stay with an all-wheel-drive vehicle because we liked the safety it provides. Upon comparisons and reading, however, it became clear to me that having stability control with a two-wheel-drive would suffice - if not be safer than AWD - as it is designed to return the automobile to its intended path after any loss of control due to sliding or skidding sideways. After relentless demonstrations of new cars, we narrowed it down to the Honda Fit Sport and the Mazda-3 S GT wagon. It was my wife's turn to choose the car, and she made the final decision: therefore I was looking even harder for anything that would have the car falling short of anything but perfection, which proved to be difficult. Due to the battering that the city gives a car, we couldn't justify spending much on something that would get banged up pretty fast. The Honda lost only because it was just a bit shy on power and we thought it looked more like a toy minivan rather than a sports car.

Is it worth while buying a brand NEW 2008 Mazda Mazda3?
Aug 15, 2008 by Myung Ji | Posted in Mazda
We were offered $600 under invoice for this car. The 2009 Mazda Mazda3s are just now coming out.
How about someone with relevant answers? She is asking if it is worthwhile to buy a car under blue book if its the current model year but not for long.
My answer is buy it if the dealer is giving you a deal.
To the moron with the pipe dream of 60MPG, good luck.
To the girl who said to get an Accord? hahahha your precious Accord is made in the USA.

Is 64,108 miles good or bad for a 2004 used mazda- mazda3 i?
May 15, 2008 by Allison | Posted in Buying & Selling
I want to buy a used car from the dealer, but I'm not sure if I should pay $10, 998 for it...!?!?
This is my first time buying one; and I dont want to make a bad choice...-.-
HELP HELP PLEASE!^.^
Thank you!
64k on a Mazda is nothing.
It's done about 16,000 miles a year which is a little high, but it can work to your benefit. But you must make certain it's not a former driving school car. Check the history and also look for a front passenger seat which looks just as worn as the driver's seat and door opening with all the little marks and scratches which normally occur only around the drivers door. Most cars are used overwhelmingly by one person so you wouldn't expect to see a similarly worn front passenger seat/door opening to the drivers side.
A four year old car is still relatively new and should have a complete service history. Check the booklet for yourself to make sure that the recommended services/intervals have been followed, don't simply accept the sellers word for it. If the history is incomplete with no more than one service missing haggle over price or demand a free warranty. If the history is absent or missing more than one service the car either has a shady history or has been neglected and you should look elsewhere.
If you're sure it's not a school car then read on...
Firstly it means the car has probably not been used for lots of short trips where the motor, exhaust etc. often never warm up properly and lots of short trips mean the starter motor could need replacing in about 10,000 miles but long trips mean the starter may only been used for two daily starts which mean it would be hardly worn at all.
Secondly it means the car has probably been used more for fast open road use than trips around town. This means the suspension, shock absorbers and steering components have lees wear and if it's got a manual transmission the clutch mechanism has less wear (but get an independent opinion on the clutch because at 60k onwards they tend to need replacement although on this model I've known it to do 120k before replacement on many occasions.
Thirdly the higher mileage means the car should be cheaper. Check online for used car price guides for a general figure and invest a few $ on the service most sites offer which give a mileage-adjusted price, often this is offered with the option of a stolen/finance check on the vehicle. Make an offer somewhere below this figure and do not pay above it. If you can't agree a deal then walk away as there are thousands more cars available and someone else will do a deal to your liking. Sometime the sales manager will call you back to make the offer which they absolutely couldn't do two minutes previously!
