And that's exactly what Amdahl wanted. He said his Red Wing Chrysler building, which was constructed five years ago, was built too big. But by consolidating the dealerships he hopes to fill the building up and bring in more business. However, what really made the deal go was the cramped economy. Previously the car manufacturers weren't keen sharing floor space, Amdahl said, but the recent stumbling of the U.S. car industry opened them up to the idea. "This would never of happened two to three years ago," Amdahl said. "It would never have gotten factory approval." He added that the extra floor space help sell the merger. "The thing that was hurting us was the large building, but it was also an advantage in the consolidation," Amdahl said. On the other end of the deal, Jedlicki's said Amdahl simply made her the right offer at the right time, as her lease on the Riverfront Ford building was coming up. Jedlicki declined to say how much she was paid for her business.

Dodge Sprinter?

The Dodge Sprinter vans are getting more popular among construction and other companies. The european look is new in the states. In Europe there are Ford, Mercedes, and other vans with the raised roof style. Why do more americans like the style, are they tired of the regular look or do they just like it becuase its new? I personally want want to buy one in a while for business. Any thoughts about it?
The Dodge Sprinter is a Mercedes Sprinter in Europe. This is one product we got in the states as a result of the DaimlerChrysler merger. The other full-size vans are good enough, but Ford and GM have so far been unwilling or unable to invest in the type of chassis that the Sprinter uses.
Essentially, US vans ride on the box-frame chassis of trucks, so the body rides on top, this makes the cabin fairly low and center-of gravity fairly high, so adding a higher roof above the road would tend to upset the road manners. The Sprinter chassis is lower and lighter, so the body can be taller. The Mercedes 5-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is much more efficient than the big V-8's used on other vans, but the compromise is less passing and climbing ability under some conditions.
For now I'd say the Sprinter is overall the most economical van on the market, and best-looking, too.

I'm looking to rent a Dodge (Mercedes Benz, Freightliner) Sprinter van in the Detroit area this summer. I'll be renting for 10 weeks, but need to start in the midwest somewhere (Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, etc). Where can I rent one? I could use either a passenger or cargo van.
try like any enterprise, budget or any type of truck rental place in the area when i came to VA that's what i did. End up getting the econo vans (gutted out 15 passenger)
