In the Midwest, a politician scores points by driving an American car. Here in Tacoma, it appears the ticket to success is a Toyota Prius. Most Tuesdays, the prime parking spaces at City Hall, which belong to the mayor and the deputy mayor, are occupied by matching gold/beige Prii. The eco-friendly hybrids look like peas in a pod. Both sport Obama stickers on the backside to boot. Mayor Bill Baarsma’s green machine has filled the No. 1 space for a while. But the parking garage didn’t really begin to resemble a Toyota dealership until last month when Julie Anderson moved up to deputy boss. That’s when her Prius bumped Spiro Manthou’s big ol’ Buick back to the regular City Council spaces. Of course, even an earth-muffin figurehead from Tacoma can’t look out for the environment every day. This week, Baarsma’s hybrid was a no-show. His space was occupied by a (gasp) Nissan Pathfinder SUV. A good choice for surviving T-Town potholes, perhaps, but not for winning the hearts and minds of Left Coasties.

I am trying to get a cold air intake for my 1999 2.7 L toyota tacoma. I don't want to spend a lot of money. I found a cold air intake for the 3.4 L V6 for about $70. Would that system fit on my 2.7 four cylinder.
i know that 4 and 6 cylinder have different parts, but the air boxes are in the same location along with the throttle body and the tube for the air intake.
No, 4 cyl and 6 cyl are not compatable for parts.

What are the best modifications for a 99 toyota tacoma?

I just bought a '99 Toyota Tacoma with the TRD package. Can anyone tell me what some good modifications are as far as air intakes, headers, etc.? I'm especially looking for people who have already done these modifications and what kind of gains they got from them.
I don't have a Tacoma but I had a T-100 and I have a 2001 Tundra that I bought new, Both of these trucks were used to deliver Mail I put the equivalent of 380,000 miles on the T-100 and then I bought the Tundra and I put the equivalent 500,000 miles on it. These are not real mills but are taken from a clock in either case both vehicles were operated for under $1000 for a 4 year period of time each, before them I drove Fords and my cost of keeping them on the road was between $12,000 and $18,000 for a like amount of time only not going as far, more like 340,000 for the four year time frame. It is yours and your choice but if I was you I would keep it just the way it is. I drove 24 new Fords before I bought my first Toyota and now I wouldn't let you park one in my drive way.
Edit note; I wish that Fords were near as good but I am sorry they just aren't, I counted on my truck to earn a living

I want to buy a Toyota Tacoma but was looking at the 2009 models and they are assembled in Tijuana ,Mexico. I know Toyota is still a high quality vehicle even though this is the case, but I would rather get a slightly older model that was made in JAPAN- Transmission and Engine Which was the last model year where the Truck was made/ assembled in Japan? Thanks.
The sticker on the 2009 models say 35% parts from Japan but none are for the Engine or Transmission. Those parts state made in USA.
The bed for the Tacoma is manufactured in Mexico, but the Truck itself is assembled at the NUMMI plant in California. That has been the case since the introduction of the "Tacoma" from the "Toyota Truck". The last "truck" that Toyota produced in Japan for sale in the US was the T100 before the introduction of the Tundra which replaced it and is was produced in Princeton, Indiana, and now in San Antonia, Texas.
