General Motors is spreading its two-mode hybrid system across its truck lineup. At the 2008 Chicago auto show, the system finds its way into the GMC Sierra Crew Cab pickup, giving it 40-percent better fuel economy in the city cycle and 25-percent better on the highway than the gas-engine Sierra, while maintaining a 6100-pound towing rating.
The Sierra Hybrid sports a so-called two-mode hybrid engineered in a joint venture between General Motors, Chrysler, Daimler, and BMW. Outfitted with a 6.0-liter V-8 engine and GM's version of the hybrid system, the Sierra Hybrid will be able to run on either its electric power or its gasoline power or both.
The hybrid truck will also use its electric power as an assist to its V-8 engine under heavy engine loads — in passing, towing, and climbing, for example. At speeds of up to 30 mph, the Sierra Hybrid can work in electric-only mode. The hybrid powertrain is also outfitted with cylinder deactivation technology, which helps dampen fuel consumption. Cruising range will be about 500 miles, GM says.
The two-mode system is expected to make its way into most of GM's full-size truck lineup, but the basic idea is scalable to vehicles of most any size, GM says. Minor aerodynamic tweaks help further improve the Hybrid's fuel economy; its battery pack is located...

A comparison between peers is difficult in the world of pickups -most major truck models can be ordered in at least a dozen different combinations of wheelbase, engine, transmission, cab style and trim level. Although there were some trim differences between the Ford F-150 Super Crew and the GMC Sierra SLE 1500 Crew Cab I drove recently, the two were close enough for a good head-to-head competition. GMC SIERRA The Sierra has been a popular choice with recreational truck users for many years, offering great interior comfort to go along with good looks and cargo capacity. Whether you choose one of the bare-bones Work Truck models or the full-blown Denali luxury version, you benefit from a very well laid out dash with the majority of major controls arrayed to the driver's right. I find the integral dash pleasing to the eye and simple to follow. Although Ford's new F-150 features a much improved layout that feels less "choppy" than before, I'd still give the Sierra the nod for best-looking instrument panel.

Was wondering how do I lift the clip behind the power window/mirror/lock modulator to get the door panel completely off? I'm stuck at that one clip and I don't wanna break it.

where is the o2 sensor located on a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab z71, in front of the cat or behind it?

Was just curious where the o2 sensor is located on a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab Z71, because I wanna put true duals, no cats with glasspacks!!?
You have 4 O2 sensors and 2 cats. You have 2 O2 per cylinder bank. So there is one sensor before the cat and one after the cat, for each side.
Running no cats will screw you, engine performance will be effected. Purchase some aftermarket high-flow units if you feel that you must get rid of the stock units.
