It doesn't seem like anyone can sell cars in the U.S. , which has more to do with economic uncertainty than desirability. Still, there's a lot not to like. What's the worst vehicle currently for sale?

We're going to limit this to the United States because it turns out the Chinese sell more cars than us and we generally like what the European market is offering (Can you say Skoda Superb ?).

The worst-of-the-worst has to be the 2009 Pontiac G3 , a car that represents everything that's wrong with the auto industry over the past 20 years.

For starters, it's platform prostitution of the worst kind — a re-badged Chevy Aveo GM designed for dealers and not for customers. In fact, the Chevy Aveo isn't even the start of the re-badging. It's actually one step away from the original Daewoo-built econocrapbox.

It may not be the ugliest car and, if we're honest, the interior's still probably relatively better than a Sebring convertible. But the reason the Pontiac G3 earns the superlative negative is what the vehicle represents. We were just starting to like Pontiac again. We couldn't heart the Pontiac G8 GXP more if we tried. We were craving the Pontiac G8 ST like anyone else with a love of cars with a truck bed. GM told us they were "building excitement" with a new, performance-oriented enthusiast-centric Pontiac brand. Where was the cry from enthusiasts to have yet another crappy econobox with no style, power or grace? Oh wait, there wasn't. But hey, here it is. Something to entice buyers to the lot with the promise of 34 MPG highway.

Is the upcoming Pontiac G3 a bad idea?

i think it is, its look and serves the same purpose as the Vibe plus the Vibe looks better. Whats your thoughts.

Its a bad idea because its the Aveo. I sale Pontiac's and Chevy's why do I need 3 models of the same car? Its a waste of resources.

Does anybody know when the Pontiac G3 is supposed to come out? At least a ball park idea...? And don't tell me the spring of '09. I get it.

Anyone ever own a Pontiac? Are your views good, bad, or indifferent? Are they comparable to something else perhaps?

Not sure about the G3, but I have mixed views about Pontiac's. I own a 2000 pontiac grand prix GT as my daily driver, and a 2006 pontiac GTO for the weekends. Pontiac is really a hit or miss deal. You either get a great car or a lemon, but that's GM for you. Pontiac is not supposed to be messing with sub-compacts and I have a feeling the 09 G3 will have more than a few problems mechanically. Pontiac's are tanks they will run with a mess load of problems but cost you lots in repairs. Even though I give Pontiac a bad review they sucked me in since I was 16 because their cars are so beautiful. I don't know though I think GM is really heading in the right direction but when they get there is the million dollar question. So if you haven't already owned a pontiac that went bad in the past and don't know what your getting into I would advise against pontiac.
