Police blotter: Two report being robbed in vehicle on Doulton Avenue - Huntington Herald Dispatch

The following information was provided by the Huntington Police Department: A robbery was reported about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 1900 block of Doulton Avenue. The police report states the driver of a vehicle had picked up an unknown black male who said he was looking for a ride from a nearby gasoline station. Once in the car, the man reportedly pulled a semi-automatic handgun, demanded wallets and money from the vehicle's two original occupants, exited the vehicle, fled toward the gasoline station and entered a black truck. No injuries or immediate arrest were reported. STOLEN AUTO: A resident in the 100 block of Northcott Court reported his car and two gold necklaces stolen from his residence on Tuesday. The missing vehicle was reported as a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. The two stolen necklaces were valued at $700. The following information was provided by the Western Regional Jail: Allen Wayne Burke, 30, was incarcerated at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Mason County charged him with felony third-offense driving under the influence. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

The mercury grand marquis has 215 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 290 pounds feet of torque at 3,250 rpm. The Mitsubishi 3,000 GT has 218 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 205 pounds feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. The Grand Marquis weighs 3,958 pounds and the 3000 GT weighs 3,329 pounds and is a five speed manual. The mkecury grand marquis is a 4 speed automatic.
Look at the horsepower to weight ratio. The 3000GT wins that one hands down (a little more HP, a lot less weight). No contest -- the 3000GT would win that race. The only way a Grand Marquis could beat a 3000GT is if the Grand Marquis had a police interceptor engine under the hood.

Does anyone about 1993 mercury grand marquis overdrive problems?

This is in a 93 Mercury Grand Marquis with cruise control. When I am driving in 1st and 2nd gear. The car runs fine, but when the car goes into over drive the car seems to slip out of gear and the motor races like as if it was in nuetrual. If you turn off the overdirve then the car goes fine. It just runs at a higher RPM. What can cause just the overdrive to do this and how hard is it to fix?
Sounds like the O/D band is gone or the intermediate one-way has failed. Both are common failures with that trans. It will require a trans overhaul or replacemment depending on what you can afford. Pressing the O/D cancel button locks out O/D and the trans will shift 1-2-3 only. You can drive it this way for a while or to get to the trans shop.

My 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis won't start in the morning?

I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis and every morning I have a problem starting it. I have to spray it with starter fluid every morning to get it started. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, air flow regulator, and put in a new battery. Does anyone have any suggestions?
spray probly wrecked air flow sensor...real ques is why all the fuel parts,,,,,ever tune it up...plugs wires,cap,rotor if equiped,,,
