2009 Ford Focus RS: Full technical details, videos and new images

Ford of Europe has already announced the pricing on the 2009 Ford Focus RS for the European market but for some reason the automaker was compelled to keep most of the official technical specs under the wraps until now. Quite frankly, we could care less about the new details since the core details have been released for some time now. What we’re more concerned with is the video and the new batch of images that came with the release.
But first let’s get some of the technical details out of the way: The 2009 Ford Focus RS officially produces 305-ps (300-hp) and a peak torque of 440Nm (324 lb-ft) form its 2.5L 5-cylinder Duratec engine with a large Borg Warner K16 turbocharger. Mated to a 6-speed transmission that 2009 Focus RS can achieve a 0 to 62 mph run in just 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 163 mph. Stopping power comes from large 336mm x 30mm, ventilated front discs with single 60mm piston calipers, supported by 302mm x 11mm rear discs. That allows the Focus RS to go from 62 mph to a complete stop in 114 feet.
Oh and we’re sure you want to know what kind of fuel-economy you’ll be getting with this high-performing hatchback. Ford says that combined fuel-economy is estimated at a combined 30.5 mpg which is 25 mpg on the stateside. Speaking of stateside - we really hope that Ford will soon bring the 2009 Focus RS to U.S. roads.

Hirvonen maintains 3rd for Ford - RallyeInfo Ltd
31.01.09
Team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila climbed from 25th to 17th in their similar Focus RS WRC after returning to the action under SupeRally rules following yesterday's retirement. Khalid Al Qassimi and Michael Orr lie eighth in the team's third car, the Abu Dhabi driver on target for his first ever point in this opening round of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Today's action took drivers from the rally's Sligo base in the Republic of Ireland across the border into Northern Ireland, for two identical loops of three speed tests north of Enniskillen covering 133.36km. The narrow, bumpy lanes were awash with standing water and such were the conditions that the Ford trio opted for Pirelli's Sottozero winter tyre throughout the day – a pattern more accustomed to being employed in snow and ice.
Hirvonen was third on the opening stage but a power steering problem towards the end of the next test cost almost 20sec. The 28-year-old Finn was unable to make repairs before the final stage of the loop and dropped a further 30sec. Despite the time loss, he retained third as he returned to service in Sligo where mechanics replaced the power steering system.

I have a 2001 Ford focus and my key is stuck in the ignition?
May 27, 2008 by jojo | Posted in Ford
I have a 2001 ford focus and yesterday i went to start my car and the key wouldnt go in the ignition to start it, finally i got the key in and got it started. Now when i shut the car off the key is completely stuck in the ignition and wont budge no matter how much i try. Does anyone know any tips on how i can get the key out or why it is stuck?
Actually, the best advice for your situation is to NOT remove the key from the ignition, if you can still start your car or shut it off. If you need to leave your car unattended, leave the key in the ignition with the door locked, and use your spare key. BUT, drive it straight to your nearest Ford dealer at your earliest convience and ask for part number SW-6285 to be keyed to match your key, and installed . This is the updated style lock cylinder that is used on 2005 to current model year Focuses. By taking my advice, your labour charge to replace the lock cylinder will be around $100.00, instead of $300.00 plus towing if you manage to remove the key, and end up unable to restart your vehicle. This is an extremely common issue with Focuses from model years 2000 to 2004. Hope this helps.

How do I clean the inside of my Ford Focus headlights?
Nov 27, 2006 by mohonri_m | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
There is a film (of dirt?) covering the plastic on my 2000 Ford Focus headlights. How do I remove the headlight or lens cap to clean it?
Only way to have dirt and crud on the inside of the headlight is if it is cracked and broken and dirt is getting inside. Usually the plastic gets a "milky" or smokey tint to it that can most times be restored or removed by putting a good coating of rainx on the headlight outside and rubbing well. It is amazing how well this works on some that are almost no longer transparent. Try it if you get a chance.
